"The methods we employ to get you the job you want are inexpensive, quick, and effective." If today is like any other day, hundreds of attorneys throughout the United States will be interviewing for jobs, thanks to Legal Authority. No other company in the world can say this. Make no mistake about it: Legal Authority is the best possible way to get a legal job.
After interviewing with one of our employment advocates and describing precisely what you want to do, we consult with you to provide a targeted list of legal employers. Using our database, we provide you with customized letters, envelopes, and resumes for application to legal jobs, in every area of practice, in every city and every country any legal professional could ever want to work—whether you are interested in one employer or a thousand employers. Whether you want to go in-house, to a law firm, to a public interest organization, to work for the federal or state government, or you seek to be a prosecutor, a court clerk, or even a law professor, we can help you find the perfect employer.
"Using the world's most sophisticated database of legal employers, we enhance attorneys' lives by penetrating markets on their behalf to get them the exposure" to employers that they need. No recruiters, no job-posting boards, and no classified ads can do what we do. The beauty of what we do is that we put you in control of your own destiny.
According to Bob Gerber, the author of An Easier Way to Change Jobs, "Job hunting success depends 70% on marketing and interviews and 30% on background and ability." This translates into knowing where to direct your mailing, mailing sufficient volume to achieve your desired results, and having a stellar cover letter and resume. Even the National Association of Law Placement is clear that most attorneys obtain jobs by directly contacting employers who are not soliciting applications.
With facilities in both the United States and abroad, Legal Authority operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, updating information about legal employers throughout the world. You would be surprised at the number of law students, practicing attorneys, and legal professionals who use our service. They do so because it works. It works because unlike headhunter and job posting boards, we do not charge a fee to employers. This means we will find every possible position for you, whether it is being advertised or not, because we have no vested interest in limiting your opportunities.
The Long Story
About Our Database
Legal Authority's database contains more hiring department contacts than any other in the world — more than 750,000 legal employers. This includes virtually every law firm, corporation, city, county, judge, public interest organization, prosecutor, public defender, law school, association, embassy, representative, congressman, or other organization in the United States that employs legal professionals. Our database is maintained 24 hours a day by a staff of more than 50 dedicated legal researchers working all over the world. On a daily basis, we add or modify more than 1,500 hiring contacts by culling, researching, and consulting hundreds of printed and online sources. Once we have the data in our database, a staff of sophisticated programmers and editors pores over this data, analyzing it for accuracy. In fact, Legal Authority has developed numerous sophisticated proprietary software products that have placed us at the forefront of the data analysis industry.

About Our Employment Advocates
On a typical day, at least three to four attorneys find new jobs through the efforts of our Employment Advocates. The Employment Advocate you speak with is someone who typically helps more than 1,000 attorneys and law students find jobs each year. Our Employment Advocates know the market extremely well and are focused on finding you suitable employment at the least possible cost and in the smallest possible timeframe. We are proud of our Employment Advocates because each of them individually gets more attorneys jobs than any fully-staffed legal recruiting firm in the world. The significance of this statement cannot be overemphasized and speaks volumes of their skill and the strength of our methodology in getting jobs for attorneys and law students. In addition, each Employment Advocate is more than happy to provide a resume critique. Just ask us—we are committed to helping you find a job, whether or not you use our full services. We will also provide a market evaluation and give you an assessment of your overall marketability. The critique and market evaluation are absolutely free, and require no obligation to continue to the application material preparation stage.
Step Three: Preparing Application Materials
After an interview with one of our Employment Advocates, you will be given the choice to join the thousands of other law students and attorneys who are happily employed Legal Authority clients. If you choose to use our services, you will work with one of our skilled resume and cover letter writers to ensure that the materials you send to potential employers best reflect your skills, talents, and interests. Unlike other services that charge hundreds of dollars to create a resume and cover letter without your input that you may end up disliking, you are guaranteed to be satisfied with our versions because we will keep working on them until you say they are perfect. In addition, all of our writers are professionals who are extensively trained in the art of legal resume and cover letter writing. Too many of our clients come to Legal Authority after having spent money on resume preparation services that extend to every career. Legal resumes are unique, and preparing them requires a unique expertise and knowledge.
Once you are satisfied with the finished materials, we prepare cover letters, resumes, and envelopes for the number of legal employers you specify. The cover letters are addressed to the hiring authority or department for each legal employer you approach. Every one of your letters will be addressed to someone we have determined is a hiring contact within that office.
Legal Authority will then print your resumes, cover letters, and high-quality envelopes. Because you are applying for jobs—not us—we want you to sign each cover letter we prepare on your behalf.
The cost is up to you, and it depends on how extensive you want your job search to be. There are no hidden charges. We charge a Membership Fee that you will only have to pay once throughout your career. The Membership Fee allows us to continually update and expand our sophisticated database and also covers the costs of our research time. The fee allows you to come back and use us again if the need arises without paying additional start-up charges. Many attorneys have successfully used Legal Authority several times throughout their careers.
The only other charge is a fee that covers our data and production costs for every employer for whom we prepare resumes, cover letters, and envelopes. This charge decreases as the volume of your search increases. When you consider that each employer you contact will have an individual cost of less than the price of a cup of coffee at Starbucks, you can see that our service is worth every penny.
Step Four: Distribution Logistics
Once we have produced your job-search package, your cover letters, resumes, and envelopes are assembled, packaged, and sent to you to sign and mail with your local postmark. We also provide you with a list of the individuals you are contacting as well as their phone numbers so you can follow up with these individuals after your application materials are sent.
Confidentiality is a serious concern for any job seeker. That's why you will do the mailing of the actual letters which we will deliver to you ready for your signature and a stamp. Accordingly, you will never be contacting a firm you do not want to contact—or worse—your own firm. We will provide you with the contacts, and you can run your job search with the advice, letters, resumes, and envelopes we prepare on your behalf.
Step Five: Follow Up
Once the mailing has been sent out, remember — you are still a Legal Authority client. We are here to help you throughout your career. Your Employment Advocate can answer all your questions or concerns about the interviewing process or starting your new job, and we're always happy to hear about your successes. If you decide you need to expand your initial search, we will be here to assist with that as well. The more employers you approach, the more likely it is that you will receive interviews, and the more choices you will have.
Because hiring personnel change frequently and companies and law firms move, any targeted job search campaign may potentially result in some returned letters. If any of your letters are returned, we reissue you corrected letters or refund any fees you paid for the returned individual letter.
