Pasadena, CA — The economic slump has claimed about 12,000 legal jobs in the last year, and the situation does not seem to get any better. Harrison Barnes, CEO of Legal Authority, says that in this scenario, targeted mailing is the most effective way of finding a job. With a database of over 750,000 legal hiring contacts, Legal Authority offers direct mailing service to legal professionals. In the current crisis, the company has helped thousands of legal professionals beat the recession.
“We have recently seen a surge in our membership roster and the success rate of our clients,” says Harrison Barnes, CEO and founder of Legal Authority. “In today’s legal market, more than 85% of all available attorney positions are not publicized. My company acts as a mediator through which all legal professionals can apply to these unadvertised positions. Over the years, I have witnessed that by directly contacting selected employers, a job seeker has more chances of getting hired,” adds Barnes.
Legal Authority was established in 2002 when Harrison Barnes felt the need of a source that provided legal professionals direct access to any legal employer. The company attributes its success to its Employment Advocates who provide job seekers with their market evaluation along with a professional resume and cover letter to be blasted out to potential employers.
According to a recent survey by ABA Journal, about 78% American lawyers expect the recession to affect the entire legal profession and 52% believe that it’ll last for until 2010. “There are tough times looming over the horizon, but one needs to find ways through which legal professionals can locate hidden jobs. Targeted mailing works as one of the most effective of such ways,” says Harrison Barnes.
According to the National Association of Law Placement (NALP), “the most common means of obtaining a job was a letter or other “self-initiated contact” with the employer...” Legal Authority’s mission has been to provide law students and attorneys a direct link to employers. “It is not uncommon for attorneys and law students using Legal Authority to evaluate more than 10 job offers before making a decision,” reports Barnes.
