Finding the Right Firm for You: How Legal Authority Can Help

First step: Sign up for a free consultation

Here at Legal Authority, we understand that conducting a job search can often be a daunting task for attorneys and law students. Our clients come to us looking for guidance and solid career advice to better conduct their job search. Our Employment Advocates will help you in this process by discussing your interests, marketability, and career options in relation to your specific job goals.

All of our Employment Advocates are attorneys with real-world legal experience. They have been trained to provide employment counseling that is relevant to today's legal market. During your free consultation, an Employment Advocate will work with you to gain a complete understanding of your particular experiences and desires.

Second step: Determine your parameters

Law firms are unique work environments. Although there are some common elements to law firms—billing requirements, deadlines, and the partnership track—they come in a variety of “flavors.” On the one hand, there are high-powered law firms, where associates get paid above scale and are expected to work long hours. On the other, there are more “humane” firms, which stress a good quality of life for their attorneys. Finally, there are various other types of firms that fall somewhere in between these two extremes.

So what kind of firm is right for your lifestyle? Our Employment Advocates can help you immeasurably when determining this! They will perform an in-depth analysis of your marketability so that you can target firms that will be a good match for you. Furthermore, our Employment Advocates will inform you of the pros and cons of different work environments. We work hard to meet the employment counseling needs of our clients.

Third step: Narrow the scope

Once our Employment Advocates have analyzed your general job search goals, they will work with you to narrow the scope of your search. Using our proprietary database, we can search by location, firm size, and practice area. We can help you determine what size firm and geographic area will garner you the most potential interviews. All potential clients receive a free resume critique and are given feedback regarding their marketability during their initial consultation. All of our Employment Advocates retain vast knowledge of the recruitment patterns of firms big and small, including “hot” practice areas and the best times of year to conduct your job search.

Fourth step: Become a client

Becoming a member of Legal Authority is easy. Once you have signed up as a client and paid your one-time membership fee of $195, and the associated fees of your initial targeted mailing, you will have access to our services for the length of your career.

After you have discussed your options and solidified your search, your Employment Advocate will notify you of how to facilitate contact with our professional resume writers and start the writing process. In addition, our Employment Advocates will write a specific note to your assigned resume writer regarding the pertinent points from your consultation and critique.

The membership that keeps on giving!

Remember, you never have to pay a membership-renewal fee to maintain your status as a Legal Authority member. Moreover, you can continue to reap the benefits of Legal Authority long after your initial job search and targeted mailing. As a lifetime member, you will not only receive professionally written resumes and cover letters (including updates as your career evolves), but you will also have access to legal employment counseling for the length of your career.

For instance, after the letters have been sent, you may contact your Employment Advocate to schedule a mock interview. We will critique your performance and offer you ways to improve the presentation of your experiences and yourself during an interview.

Furthermore, our Employment Advocates often help clients negotiate compensation upon receiving an offer. We also offer general employment counseling to help clients transition smoothly into their new jobs. Whether it is a question about billing requirements or how to make a lateral move into another area of law—we are here to advise you. We take great pride in being an informed resource and sounding board for all of your legal employment needs.

We hope that you will consider using Legal Authority for your next job search. Please let us know if we can be of service to you. You may contact us at 1-800-283-3860 to schedule your free resume critique and job search consultation. Good luck in all of your professional endeavors!
